How to make submission/resubmission in the TURNITIN?

This guide is applicable for the submission to the TURNITIN which permitting students to make resubmission before the due date.


The purpose of permitting the resubmission is to giving the students chance to update their report contents from more similar into more original contents. The resubmission allowing students with highest similarity percentage to update their report contents and resubmit for a lower similarity result.


The resubmission steps are same with the first time you make the submission to the TURNITIN link submission.


For example, this student already submitted and resulting the high of similarity percentage. After updates made in the report file, this student can make resubmission by clicking the button "Submit Paper" as shown below:



Then, just fill in the required space and upload the updated report file.


Please wait for a few minutes/hours for the new similarity results generated/refreshed.


You are allowed three resubmission attempts where the Similarity Report will generate immediately. After three attempts, you'll have to wait 24 hours before a new Similarity Report can be generated.


Once you have made a submission, you will be unable to delete it from the assignment. Resubmitting will overwrite a previous submission.


For resubmission, if you did not see that "Submit Paper" button, there are two main reasons:

  1. The deadline has passed, and submissions are now closed.
  2. The lecturer is not allowing/permitting the resubmission. Please contact your lecturer for further check.


Resubmission attempts are shared between you and your lecturer. One of your attempts will be used if they resubmit on your behalf.


For your information;


  1. First submission to TURNITIN will generating the similarity percentage instantly.
  2. For the 2nd resubmission, it will take few minutes/hours to generate/refresh the new similarity percentage.
  3. For the 3rd and consecutively resubmission, it will take up to 24 hours to generate/refresh the new similarity percentage.
  4. Make sure the resubmissions are made before the due date.
