# Grant an assignment extension to a student

1. Log in to the **eLearn/ODL portal**, open your module and select the **Assignment**.
2. Click the **Submissions** tab at the top of the assignment page.
3. Find the student who needs an extension. You can use the search field if the list is long.
4. In the student’s row, click the **three dots (⋯)** in the **Status** column and select **Grant extension**. 
5. Set the new **Extension due date** and time. Select **Enable** beside the date if that checkbox appears.
6. Click **Save changes**.
7. Return to the **Submissions** tab and check that the extension is shown for the correct student. Repeat the steps for any other students who need an individual extension.

|| Before finishing: Check the assignment’s Cut-off date if one is set. A cut-off date may prevent submission before the student’s new extension deadline.
